What better way to make your home cooler in summer and warmer in winter than by using natural plantings and sunlight.
Maurice Beinat explains how you can work with natural movement of the sun and strategic placement of trees and shrubs to keep your home cooler in summer and warmer in winter. Learn what to plant where in this video…
A great way to shade your windows in the summertime is by using deciduous trees.
Trees such as these that lose their leaves in the winter, let the winter sun in to warm your home in the wintertime, and when the weather heats up, the leaves come back and shade your glass for the summertime.
A shrub like this is great for east and west-facing glass, where the sun is quite low, so a shrub is perfect for stopping the sun there.
On the northern side you can use taller trees because the sun is higher in the sky.
So that’s a great way to help your home be warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.”
